Drink Water Right

A Relief for Constipation

"A most effective laxative" that was how the late Dr. F. Batmanghelidj praised water as a relief for constipation in his book You Body's Many Cries For Water.

Drinking water right optimizes its effectiveness. Basically, it is to prevent dehydration by spacing out the drinking of water. Here are some do's and don'ts.

Do drink water:

  • Half an hour before meals to prepare the digestive tract.
  • Two and a half hours after meals. Your body needs water to correct dehyration caused by food breakdown and to complete the digestion process.
  • During meals.
  • Before exercise. You're going to sweat, so be prepared.
  • If you are constipated person who don't eat much vegetables and fruits. First thing in the morning, drink two to three glasses of water as laxative. Even if you are not constipated, you should cultivate the same morning routine to replenish you body which is dehydrated from a long night sleep.
  • Whenever you're thirsty. Please read on before you reach out for a big glass of water...

DON'T drink more water than your body needs. Too much is harmful and even fatal. In 2007, a woman died of water intoxication after drinking 2 gallons of water at one go without urinating in a water-drinking competition.

Some people tend to become swollen as a result of water retention if they drink large quantity of water. Here's some suggestions.

  • Drink water before meals.
  • Drink slowly.
