One of the Benefits of Garlic

Home Remedy for Constipation

Constipation relief is one of the benefits of garlic. I vomit each time I eat fried garlic, the only way I can enjoy it is either raw or toasted. Strange...don't ask me why I am like that. The point is - even though I dislike garlic, I notice that taking garlic bread does help my bowel movements.

My little brain starts to think: they say that garlic kills bacteria and our digestive tract needs the service of good bacteria. So does garlic kill good and bad bacteria at one go? There are people who say yes but judging from the response of my body, I think the answer is "no". There is a discovery that garlic actually promotes the propagation of the friendly acidophilus.

I may not like the "garlic smell" , but I have to remember it is the natural substance responsible for this grrr smell, one of which is the rich potassium content, that stimulates the digestive tract muscles to start work. For people who cannot stand raw garlic, there's lots of garlic tablets. I personally find some garlic tablets smell stronger than fresh ones. Anyway there's one capsule producer that claims to get rid the garlic ordor by letting it age for 20 months. Usually I'd just add freshly chopped parsley to cover the garlic smell.

Some cautions: If you are sensitive to garlic, you may experience heartburn. Check with your doctor first if you are taking anticoagulant drugs before taking garlic. If you are taking garlic supplements and is scheduled for surgery, let you doctor know about the supplement intake.
